  1. What is really happening is that the entire literate 
  2. and visual society of the Western world is being 
  3. plunged into the intensely integral electrical cultural 
  4. environment that is so profoundly oral and tribal. It 
  5. is the Bergsons and the Picassos who have 
  6. announced the literate plunge into the tribal 
  7. experience. Non-literate and non-visual societies 
  8. experience the same plunge as there is encountered 
  9. with literacy. Electric circuitry enables the East to 
  10. experience the West as an environment, but the 
  11. West is having the experience of involvement in the 
  12. East by the same means at the same time.
